Whiskey Smash

The Whiskey Smash is basically a mojito with whiskey instead of rum and lemon instead of lime (because lemon works better with whiskey). This is not a drink for every palate. If you don’t like mojitos, you probably won’t like this. Mint is a strong flavor, and it dominates this cocktail.

That said, this is one well put together cocktail, with every ingredient in the recipe having been tweaked carefully until it all goes together just right.

Recipe

• 1 1/2 ounces whiskey
• 2 pieces of lemon
• several mint leaves
• 3/4 ounce simple syrup
• 1/2 ounce club soda

In a mixing glass, muddle your mint, lemon, club soda and simple syrup. Next, add the bourbon and shake it all up. Fill a chilled old fashioned glass with crushed ice and strain the mixture into it. Garnish with mint.
