Vera Highball

The Vera Highball takes Pernod, waters it down a little and sweetens it slightly. The overall flavor is a bit like black licorice candy.

Vera Highball with lemon slicePin

Compared to straight Pernod or absinthe, this drink is far less intimidating. It’s not a candy drink, but it does take the edge off the herbal flavor of the Pernod and make it easier on the palate. This drink is great for when you’re in the mood for something very different, but want to be sure it won’t overload your taste buds.

Recipe

Build the ingredients in a highball glass, in order, topping it off with the ice water. Garnish with a lemon slice.
