Nasty Woman and the Bad Hombre

The "Nasty Woman" and "Bad Hombre" cocktails were inspired by memorable phrases from the 2016 presidential debates. They're delicious, with fruit, spice and mocha notes, unlike the irritating election season from which they came.

I thought about playing a drinking game with the third 2016 presidential debate, but I didn’t want to die of alcohol poisoning. And so, the Nasty Woman and Bad Hombre cocktails were born.

Jack’s Grand Ball drink recipe, featuring Jack Honey

The Jack's Grand Ball cocktail recipe features Jack Honey with Tia Maria, Grand Marnier and a dash of Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters. The result is like an orange mocha with strong hints of honey.

The Jack’s Grand Ball cocktail is a Mix That Drink original built around Jack Honey. To it, I added a touch of Tia Maria, Grand Marnier and a dash or two of Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters.

March Rain Cocktail

March Rain Cocktail recipe: Tia Maria, Canton Ginger Liqueur, St. Germain, Casa Noble, lime juice

The March Rain Cocktail is something I created one rainy evening in March, hence the name. I started with sweet liqueurs – Tia Maria and Canton Ginger Liqueur – and then came the Fernet Branca bitters. And more.

Branca Menta ‘Hopper

Branca Menta Hopper drink recipe: Branca Menta, Creme de Cacao, Tia Maria, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur

The Branca Menta Hopper started out as a re-imagining of the classic Grasshopper recipe. But by the time I finished developing the recipe, I wasn’t sure how much it even resembled the original.

Road Streaker

Road Streaker drink recipe - Vodka, Creme de Peche, Frangelico, Tia Maria, Cream

The Road Streaker cocktail isn’t as cloyingly sweet as you’d expect from glancing at the ingredients. Three liqueurs make up nearly two ounces of the drink. But the other ounces are vodka and heavy cream, which cut the sweetness considerably. This is a great drink for when you want to enjoy the flavors of the

Tiatip Layered Cocktail Recipe

The Tiatip is a layered cocktail with just two ingredients: Tia Maria and Bailey's, in equal parts. This is a sweet, rich, delicious cocktail recipe that tastes like coffee with Irish cream and sugar.

The Tiatip is a layered cocktail with just two ingredients: Tia Maria and Baileys. This cocktail looks so elegant, with its layered of black and cream.

Cary Grant cocktail

Cary Grant drink recipe - Tia Maria, Vodka, Lime

The Cary Grant cocktail got its name because it’s supposedly something Cary Grant drank. It combines lime juice with equal parts coffee liqueur and vodka. Lime and sweet coffee, of course, make for an interesting flavor combination: a sour, a sweet and a bitter. The vodka mellows it all out so everything plays nicely together.

Velvet Hammer

Velvet Hammer drink recipe with Tia Maria, Cointreau and cream.

The next time you’re looking to knock yourself out but wishing it could be painless, use a Velvet Hammer. This drink packs more alcohol than you think, given its smooth, sweet, creamy taste. The Velvet Hammer looks a lot like a White Russian, and they do both use a coffee liqueur and creamer. But the

Iguana

Iguana drink recipe with 1800 Tequila, vodka, Tia Maria, lemon juice and simple syrup.

The Iguana sounds like a variation on a Margarita recipe until you get to the call for Tia Maria. That’s a little different. And the result will surprise you. It’s just a hint of dark espresso liqueur flavor against delicious sweetened lemon, with tequila and vodka for the base. Imagine something like deep, dark chocolate

Bahama Mama, the Original Drink Recipe

The original Bahama Mama recipe is often different from what’s served at restaurants today. It’s a tropical fruit juice and rum drink, but it also has a touch of coffee liqueur and other differences from the modern version.

The Bahama Mama is an old classic that’s been tweaked over the years. This is the original recipe, as far as I can tell.
