The Spanish Fly is an absolutely decadent blend of several rich, sweet flavors – butterscotch, cherry and vanilla – with cola. It reminds me of the flavored colas they sometimes serve at county fairs, where you can get your pick of all sorts of syrups added to the beverage.
This cocktail has a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of some thrilling candy from childhood. You can cut the sweetness a little by using a diet cola. Even if sweet cocktails aren’t usually up your alley, this one’s definitely worth a try, maybe as a dessert substitute.
Recipe
- 1 part butterscotch schnapps
- 1 part cherry liqueur
- 1 part vanilla schnapps
- 1 part cola
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail glass over ice and stir.
