Sour Apple Pie Cocktail

Have you ever had a green apple pie? It’s a little more sour than the traditional pie made with sweet apples. And if you want a fun and easy-to-make cocktail that tastes just like it, the Sour Apple Pie cocktail is a must-try. Sour Apple Pie cocktail with graham cracker crustPin This simple yet delicious cocktail blends vodka with the tart and refreshing flavors of sour apple schnapps with the warm, spicy notes of cinnamon schnapps – creating a taste that’s remarkably reminiscent of a freshly baked apple pie.

Tasting Notes

The first sip of this shooter delivers an immediate burst of sour green apple flavor, courtesy of the Sour Apple Pucker schnapps. But just as quickly, the cinnamon notes from the Hot Damn schnapps come through, giving the drink a warm, spicy counterpoint that smooths out the sourness. Together, the two flavors create a taste that really is similar to a slice of homemade apple pie. You get the tartness of the apples, the comforting spice of the cinnamon, and a subtle sweetness that ties it all together. It’s a wonderfully balanced and highly drinkable cocktail.

Brand Substitutions

As mentioned, the two key ingredients in the Sour Apple Pie shooter are both by DeKuyper. Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps delivers the signature “sour apple” taste that’s reminiscent of a freshly baked apple pie. Hot Damn Cinnamon Schnapps adds warm, spicy notes of cinnamon to create that comforting apple pie flavor profile. The cinnamon also adds a nice heat and kick to the overall cocktail. But do you have to use this brand? Absolutely not. DeKuyper is really good at creating flavorful yet smooth schnapps liqueurs that aren’t cloyingly sweet, and that’s what works in this drink. But they’re not the only brand that makes good schnapps, so feel free to substitute if you’ve got one you love.

Serving Suggestions

This is such an easy cocktail to make that it’s really good for any occasion. It’s perfect for a night of relaxing or a get-together with friends. Or you can dress it up by putting it in a martini glass and serve it at a cocktail party. Because it’s fairly light on alcohol, that makes it a nice choice for parties. It’s great at any point in the year, but because of the apple cinnamon flavors, it works particular well at fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving.
