Serpentine

The Serpentine is a grown up cocktail that features rum, brandy and sweet vermouth, with lemon juice to marry them all together. While sweet vermouth definitely doesn’t have everyone’s blessing, this is one recipe that blends it into the whole nicely.

Enjoy a Serpentine the next time you’re in the mood for a Sidecar. If you love the sugared rim of a Sidecar, just leave the sugar out of the drink mixing for this one and rim the glass instead.

Recipe

  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1/2 ounce brandy
  • 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon superfine sugar

Fill a shaker halfway with ice rubes. Pour in all ingredients and shake until chilled. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and garnish with a twist of lemon.
