Peppermint Moscow Moose Drink Recipe
The Peppermint Moscow Moose is super simple, but super delicious. Nothing fancy here – in fact, the entire drink is pure alcohol. You can always serve it over the rocks if that’s a bit strong for you (or for the occasion).
I tend to associate this one with winter time and frosty weather because of the peppermint. And because when I think of Moscow, I think of snow. But this drink is a refreshing treat anytime you want a drink that packs a punch but has a little flavor.

As you might have guest from the name, this cocktail is from the same family of drinks as the Moscow Moose. Except they have almost nothing in common.
It’s also not very similar to the Moscow Mule. The Mule and Moose have a few things in common with one another, but this drink seems to have taken the word Moscow just because it contains vodka.
The Ingredients
This recipe has two simple ingredients: vodka and peppermint schnapps.
- Vodka: pick any drinkable bottle, because you won’t taste it much over the schnapps. Absolut, Grey Goose, Tito’s Handmade and Skyy are all good choices.
- Peppermint Schnapps: for schnapps, try Rumple Minze, DeKuyper or Hiram Walker.
The Taste
The taste is overwhelmingly of sweet peppermint. This is a really straightforward drink without a lot of nuanced flavor notes.

- 2 ounces peppermint schnapps
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka
Instructions
- Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.
- Pour the two ingredients into the old-fashioned glass.
- Stir and serve.
