Durango

The Durango is a great morning cocktail. It’s got a lovely burst of refreshing white grapefruit juice, an equal portion of tequila and a touch of orgeat almond syrup (if you don’t have any, amaretto is a great substitute).

This is a drink that can get you going when you need an extra kick. It’s good earlier in the day – for lunch or brunch – or in the late afternoon when you’ve got plans for the evening. The flavor is sour tempered by sweet almond – a really enjoyable combination.

Recipe

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce Orgeat or amaretto
  • 1 teaspoon water

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. Pour in your ingredients and shake well. Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass.
