Cafe de Paris

The Cafe de Paris is an old-school sort of cocktail, featuring a couple of strong flavors diluted by cream and an egg white. If you’re concerned about using raw eggs these days, you can use an egg substitute product instead.

This one is looks very similar to the D’Amour Cocktail recipe at first glance, but the D’Amour features a full ounce of lime juice which changes the flavor profile completely.

Cafe de Paris drink in gobletPin

This drink features gin with a touch of anisette, but the addition of heavy cream and the egg white makes less overwhelming than you might normally expect. This one can take some getting used to, but it’s lovely when you want just a little bit of sustenance in your drink.

Recipe

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 1/2 ounce anisette
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 ounce heavy cream

Fill a shaker halfway with ice cubes. Pour in all the ingredients, and shake thoroughly. Strain the mixture into a sour glass.
