Barbados Cocktail
The Barbados Cocktail is a simple tropical cocktail featuring light rum, triple sec and a touch of pineapple juice. It’s lighter and less sweet than many similar cocktails.
Note that this recipe calls for the drink to be stirred rather than shaken, even though it contains a fruit juice. Most drinks with fruit juice are shaken to get the thick juice dispersed throughout the liquid, and some people do choose to shake this one. But that “bruises” the rum – that is, the taste of it becomes sharper and the texture changes.
Try this drink both ways, if you like. It’s a little more mellow when stirred.

Ingredients
- 2 ounce light rum
- 1/2 ounce triple sec
- 1 ounce pineapple juice
Instructions
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Pour in all the ingredients.
- Stir, don't shake,
- Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.
