Apple Cart

Calvados is a well-loved spirit for good reason. It’s an apple brandy, but that just means it has notes of apple and pear – it’s not actually fruity.

But it blends wonderfully with citrus, so the Apple Cart cocktail blends calvados with a little lemon juice and the orange flavor of Cointreau. The citrus adds a wake-up call to the mellow notes of the calvados, and gives the whole cocktail some excitement.

Enjoy an Apple Cart when you’re in the mood for something that hints at fruity without really going there.

Recipe

• 1 ounce Calvados
• 3/4 ounce Cointreau
• 1/2 ounce lemon juice

Fill a chilled Collins glass halfway with ice cubes. Pour all ingredients into the glass and stir well.
