Abilene

The Abilene cocktail is a tasty rum based drink that seems to me like it ought to be southern. I guess that’s because it features peach nectar and orange juice.

This is a tasty little drink, especially on a hot summer day. When you’re in the mood for something a little bit fruity, but mellow – not too sweet, not too tangy – this is a good choice. It’s also nice for entertaining, since it’s a a standard drink with five ounces of mixers. And if you have guests who aren’t drinking, just replace the rum with unsweetened iced tea.

Recipe

  • 1 1/2 ounces dark rum
  • 2 ounces peach nectar
  • 3 ounces orange juice

Fill a highball glass most of the way with ice cubes. Pour in the ingredients, and stir well.
