Marshmallow Shooter {MixThatDrink Original}

The Marshmallow Shooter is a cocktail recipe I invented. I haven’t found any other cocktails of the same name, nor any that try to emulate the taste of a marshmallow in cocktail form. And let me tell you: it’s not easy. But I think this recipe does at least suggest the flavor of marshmallow.

Marshmallows are mainly composed of sugary stuff and a little vanilla, so I use the Vanilla Royale to impart the vanilla flavor – it’s almost buttery, which is why I like it for this recipe, but you could try other vanilla liqueurs. The Cruzan Caramel Rum Cream adds something like the rich sugary flavor marshmallows have. The heavy cream rounds out the flavors and dulls those notes that head off in a non-marshmallow direction. And the flavored vodka or rum gives it some punch.

Like I said, it doesn’t taste exactly like a marshmallow, but I think it hits some of the right notes. And it’s tasty! Adding mini-marshmallows gives it an added boost of authenticity, but you can leave them off if you prefer.

This is a fun drink to have for dessert, or anytime you’re in the mood for something sweet and mellow.
